The practice of revenue assurance is a team effort, and it can only be
successful if all the departments involved (finance, audit,
operations, network, marketing, I/T and the revenue assurance
team) understand why it is important.
For the RA team to be
effective, other departments must understand how and why revenue assurance is
crucial to maintaining revenue and profit, and accept that revenue and profit
are the primary goals of the organization. While this means the RA team has to
lead the way, it also means other departments need to cooperate and internalize
revenue assurance principles.
The RA team’s goal is for everyone to see clearly
how each department can help prevent and resolve revenue losses in a proactive
rather than reactive manner. Departments cannot simply allow revenue losses to
grow and add up while waiting for the RA team to tell them what to do.
This is
the core of what our training is all about—making awareness of negative
consequences (revenue losses) everybody’s problem. Our training is designed to
help revenue assurance team members encourage this awareness in others,
empowering other departments to participate in the process of finding and fixing
revenue loss situations wherever and whenever they occur.
